Fulham vs Arsenal 0-3 Goal Highlights 19-01-2008
Goals: Adebayor 19', 38', Rosicky 81'
Emmanuel Adebayor kept the pressure on Manchester United in the English Premier League title race as his brace earned Arsenal a comfortable 3-0 win over Fulham on Saturday.
The Togo striker's two routine first-half headers and Tomas Rosicky's late third kept Arsene Wenger's side level on points with United at the top of the table.
It also gave Arsenal a welcome return to form after their surprise draw with Birmingham last week, although they will surely not have a less rigorous afternoon all season.
Fulham lived up to their reputation as a Championship club-in-waiting and this limp display snapped the patience of the club's fans, who turned on their South Korean international Seol Ki-Hyeon.
Arsenal have no such concerns. Wenger's side might have been unusually laboured in recent weeks, but this was an ideal opportunity for them to rediscover their swagger and a suitably perky start was rewarded with an early lead in the 19th minute.
A typically swift break downfield culminated in Mathieu Flamini releasing Gael Clichy down the visitors' left flank.
The Frenchman - one of Arsenal's most impressive performers this season - delivered an enticing cross and Adebayor, finding space between Dejan Stefanovic and Carlos Bocanegra, leapt high to nod into the bottom corner.
Once Arsenal had established a foothold, their control was total. Passes were pinged around Craven Cottage at will as Fulham struggled to squeeze the space and the only question was when Arsenal would extend their advantage.
The answer came in the 38th minute. Once Flamini had snapped the ball off Simon Davies' toes and teed up Alexander Hleb, the hosts gave the Belarussian aeons of space and time to pick out Adebayor in the area.
The Togolese forward rose gracefully for a second time and planted an identikit header into the right-hand corner.
Fulham were abject. If their defending for Arsenal's goals was not bad enough, their forward play was equally incoherent and their half was encapsulated just before half-time when Danny Murphy, set up by Davies' pass, blazed wastefully over from the edge of the area.
The break did little to clear Fulham's heads. Within seconds of the re-start, they nearly fell further behind when Davies almost deflected in Cesc Fabregas's free-kick and from the Spaniard's resultant corner, Eduardo should have done better than head wide from eight yards.
Still Arsenal swept forward. Some neat foot-work from Eduardo on the left carried him past the despairing lunges of Moritz Volz and Aaron Hughes and his pull-back was hammered onto the near post by Rosicky.
The sight of Arsenal easily slicing through the home defence prompted waves of agitation to sweep around the stadium, with Seol bearing the brunt of the frustration: his substitution after an hour was greeted by wild applause.
Not that the change greatly affected the dynamic of a desperately one-sided game. Fulham did find a way past Manuel Almunia in the 70th minute when Clint Dempsey headed in, only for his celebrations to be curtailed by an offside flag.
Instead, the coup de grace was applied by Rosicky in the 81st minute, the Czech sliding in to convert Eduardo's cross after the Croatian had torn past the despairing Volz.
