Goals: Ronaldo 81', Rooney 89'

Wayne Rooney was on the field for only 11 minutes but helped lead Manchester United to a 2-0 FA Cup victory over Aston Villa on Saturday in a game watched by England's new coach, Fabio Capello.

Entering as a late substitute with the score 0-0, Rooney began the move that led to Cristiano Ronaldo sliding home Ryan Giggs' cross at the far post in the 81st minute. With a minute left, the England striker found Ronaldo with a crossing pass. When the Portuguese striker's shot was blocked by a defender, Rooney was in position to score from 20 yards.

This was Capello's first public appearance as England coach. The successful former coach at AC Milan, AS Roma, Juventus and Real Madrid replaced Steve McClaren, who was fired in November after failing to get England to Euro 2008.

This was United's fourth straight FA Cup triumph over Villa in seven years. United, the record 11-time champion, won on a day of upsets in soccer's oldest and most famous domestic cup competition.

Aston Villa: Carson, Mellberg, Laursen, Davies, Bouma (Gardner, 83'), Petrov (Maloney, 75'), Reo-Coker, Barry, Young, Carew (Moore, 64'), Agbonlahor.

MU: Van der Sar, Brown, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Park (Rooney, 70'), Anderson, Carrick, Giggs (O'Shea, 90'), Ronaldo, Saha (Hargreaves, 79').
