at seemingly doomed Derby. Salomon Kalou opened the scoring from
a Steve Sidwell pass and Shaun-Wright Phillips added a second
after Frank Lampard's effort came back off the post.

Chelsea's victory was marred by a late red card for Michael
Essien after he appeared to catch Kenny Miller with his arm.

Chelsea are unbeaten in 12 matches in all competitions.
